The European Green deals sets out to transform the EU into a fair and prosperous society, with a modern, resource-efficient and competitive economy where there are no net emissions of greenhouse gases in 2050 and where economic growth is decoupled from resource use. It also aims to protect, conserve and enhance the EU’s natural capital. Regarding forests and forestry, this may have a broad spectrum of implications connected to the various ecosystem services and goods forests provide, from forest biomass to biodiversity and climate change mitigation, but also responding to changing societal demands towards forests. In this seminar, we seek to explore policy visions on the role of forests in the Green Deal, asking the following questions:
