Organised by FOREXT in partnership with the EU-funded FORADVISE project, the webinar will bring together forest professionals, advisors, researchers, and stakeholders to explore practical applications of Marteloscopes in Ireland and Germany.
Marteloscopes have become one of the most widely recognised tools developed and promoted within the Integrate Network. By making both ecological and economic values visible, Marteloscopes allow participants to test and discuss management decisions in a practical setting. They have proven particularly valuable for training forest managers, supporting advisory services, fostering stakeholder dialogue, and demonstrating the trade-offs and synergies involved in multifunctional forest management.
During the webinar, Andreas Schuck as the representative of the Integrate Network will introduce the Marteloscope concept and explain its role in promoting integrative approaches to forest management across Europe. Participants will then learn from two case studies: a Marteloscope initiative in Ireland (presented by Integrate member Jonathan Spazzi) and good practices from North Rhine-Westphalia (presented by Integrate member Carolin Stiehl), Germany, where Marteloscopes are being used as tools for stakeholder engagement and communication.
As European forests face increasing pressures from climate change, biodiversity loss, and competing societal demands, there is a growing need for practical tools that support informed and balanced decision-making. Marteloscopes exemplify the Integrate Network’s commitment to bridging conservation and forest management objectives through science-based, hands-on approaches.
The webinar will conclude with a discussion on how Marteloscopes can support forest advisors and contribute to the broader goals of sustainable and resilient forest management.
